Greetings – I am Matt Compito, a seasoned guitar player, performer and teacher that offers guitar lessons and performances in the general region of Northern Westchester, New York.
Lessons
I employ a methodical, patient style of teaching you how to use both hands on your guitar to create sounds to your liking. A big part of your journey will be sharing with me what inspires you to want to play guitar in the first place. I will walk you through at a comfortable yet deliberate pace on how to navigate the fret board with your left (or right) hand, strumming/picking in time to your favorite music and/or a metronome with your right (or left) hand, and slowly work our way into multitasking and doing both at the same time.
- Who: All ages/skill levels (have experience with special needs students)
- What: Guitar proficiency, musicianship, ear training, musical analysis competency, and music theory.

I’m available to share my love for music with seniors and help bring the music from their era into their daily lives in a unique way using my guitar and voice to recall some of their favorite timeless classics.
I’m available to bring a variety of rhythmic and melodic instruments in a school, camp, or private setting for informal music therapy / music appreciation / participation for mainstream as well as special needs students.
Biography
- Attended Berklee College of Music for Voice and Guitar performance
- Have experience teaching guitar/general music to kids with special needs.
- Have run music therapy groups for special needs students.
- Have been teaching private lessons for over 10 years.
- Have been recording original music with numerous local bands and have been performing at private events in solo and band settings since 2006.
